Your participation to this screening program is voluntary but nevertheless very important. This screening for breast cancer of the population is necessary if we want to save lives by early detection. Did you know that breast cancer is the number one cancer that is diagnosed among women? According to statistics, Aruba does not differ much from the rest of world.

On our small island, there are annually about eighty (80) to one hundred (100) new breast cancer cases detected.  Most of the women affected are between the ages of forty-five (45) and seventy-five (75) and more than fifty percent (50%) are between the age of forty-five (45) and sixty-four (64) years of age. Twenty-seven percent (27%) of all the new breast cancer cases are detected among women between the ages of sixty-five (65) and seventy-five (75). If you fall in one of these age groups make sure you contact Stichting BOB Aruba.
